The Mouse Deer and His Magic Flute
On a fine
afternoon, a mouse deer had just finished his dinner and sat down to relax for
a while. Suddenly, there was a loud sound. The mouse deer knew something wrong
happened. The mouse deer was very nervous. He stood and said, “I’m sure Mr.
Tiger around this area. I must prepare to run away.” The mouse deer’s
assumption was correct. From behind the bamboo plants came a huge tiger.
The tiger saw
the mouse deer and said, “Really you are hiding here. I’m going to have a hearty
meal today.” And the tiger roared loudly. Anyhow the clever mouse deer sat down
and pretended to ignore the tiger’s coming. “Aren’t you afraid of me Mr. Mouse deer?” asked the tiger surprisingly. “It seems
to me that you are very daring today,” continued the tiger.
I know you have
come here to devour me,” said the mouse deer. “Than, why are you not afraid,”
asked the puzzled tiger. “I don’t want to suffer anymore,” said the mouse deer.
“Suffer! Why are you suffering?” asked the tiger curiously. ”Mr. Tiger, the
king has ordered me to look after his magic flute and I’ve been guarding it for
such a long time,” replied the mouse deer.
“It has been a
week since I left this place. I was starving it was I’ve not eaten for many
days. Therefore, it was better for me to die than waiting here like a fool,”
said the mouse deer pathetically.
“What a
sorrowful life, Mr. Mouse deer. Please let me know. I pity you,” said the tiger later on. ”if I
leave the place, the king will imprison me. ”
replied the mouse deer.
“The flue that
you are guarding must be excellent. I’m sure it will produce a pleasant sound,”
said the tiger. Coincidentally, there was a breeze an the friction of the of
bamboos produced a pleasant melody like that music sound of was very nice to
listen.
“There you are
Mr. Tiger. Listen carefully for your self,” said the mouse deer. And the tiger
started to close his eyes and listen to the pleasant melody of the bamboo
plants.
“Mr. Mouse
deer, would you please allow me to blow the king’s flute?” asked the tiger. “No
problem, you can do it,” replied the mouse deer. “But you have to show mo how
to blow the flute,” pleaded the tiger.
“Sure, it is
very easy, just put your long tongue among he bamboos and blow as hard as you
can,” explained the mouse deer. “That’s quite easy. Let me try,” said the
tiger.
“But wait
first. Let me go a little further because the sound will be quite loud for me,”
said the mouse deer. The tiger agreed and he started to put his long tongue
among the bamboos.
“Mr. Tiger,
your can blow now,” said the mouse deer from away. At the same time, there was
a strong wind, the bamboo plant swayed and the tiger’s tongue got stuck between
the bamboos.
“Ouch! Ouch!
It’s so painful!” screamed the tiger in pain. The mouse deer took this
opportunity to escape. He way safe, he could be away from the tiger.
